Swedish massage therapy is the most commonly practised type of therapeutic massage. Thought to have been created by the Swedish pioneer of Physical Education, Pehr Henrik Ling, in the early 1800’s, its focus is on muscle relaxation, particularly on superficial muscles and improving blood circulation.
